Allison Feldman's sister reacts to murder suspect's arrest

Allison Feldman's family reacted Tuesday to news that an arrest has been made in the woman's 2015 murder.

On Tuesday afternoon, authorities announced that 42-year-old Ian Mitcham has been arrested, in connection with Feldman's brutal murder.

"Everything we know about Allison is that she was a beautiful human being, and there was no reason whatsoever that Allison should have been a victim of a violent crime in our city," said Scottsdale Assistant Police Chief Scott Popp.

The link to the crime was made using familial DNA testing, and this case was the first time ever it has been used in Arizona. DNA from Mitcham's brother, who is serving time in an Arizona prison for molestation charges, is what led police to Mitcham himself.

"The way the system works is you look for that family lineage," said Popp. "If there had not been a family member that had not been in the system at this time, we would not have gotten a hit back."

Meanwhile, Feldman's sister, Kelly Weinblatt, is relieved by the recent developments.

"Quiet honestly, I didn't know that an arrest would happen at this point, which was very hard," said Weinblatt. "We were really pinning out hopes to this familial search."

Weinblatt, meanwhile, also have questions.

"Who is this guy? Why did he go into my sister's house? What did he want? Why did he do this?" asked Weinblatt. "I don't know that we'll ever get any of those answered."
