Brown University shooting latest: New video released as officials seek public’s help identifying suspect
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The search continued Tuesday for the suspect in a shooting at Brown University on Dec. 13 after a person of interest was released from custody.
Additional police were sent to Providence schools on Tuesday to reassure worried parents that their kids will be safe with the Brown University shooter on the loose and no indication yet that investigators have zeroed in on a suspect.

Police released new video of a "person of interest" in the deadly shooting at Brown University. Providence police said it plans to release additional video as part of its investigation and urge anyone who may recognize the person in the video, to contact the FBI. Two Brown University students were killed and nine students were wounded.

A new video was released on Tuesday. During a press conference, Oscar Perez, Providence's chief of police, showed the video to the reporters.
"So, as you can see, the enhanced photos, there's enhanced video footage," Perez said. "And so we're asking the public to ensure that they can see them… Watch body movements, the way the person moved their arms, their body posture, the way they work, they're carrying their weight. I think those are important movement patterns that we help you identify this individual, which is extremely important."
On Tuesday, the Mayor of Providence Brett Smiley also gave an update on the health status of the survivors. Of the seven victims that were still in the hospital, one was in critical status, five were in critical but stable status, and one was in stable status. An additional person was also discharged.
Authorities on Monday also released several new videos of the man suspected in Saturday's mass shooting inside of a Brown classroom, which killed two students and wounded nine others.

Authorities are investigating a new lead in the deadly mass shooting at Brown University, focusing on photos and videos of an individual recorded around 2 p.m. Saturday, several hours before the attack. The FBI has announced a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction and described the individual as approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall with a stocky build. A previously detained person of interest has been released and cleared of any involvement, Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha said. The shooting killed two students and injured nine others, prompting the cancellation of classes and exams as the campus remains under heightened security and tension.
In the five videos authorities have released of the suspect, he was wearing a mask or his face was turned. The FBI described him as about 5 feet, 8 inches (173 centimeters) tall, with a stocky build.

On Tuesday, Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha told MS Now that an "enhanced photograph" would soon be released.
"We have a good picture of the gunman's route, but it's not complete yet," he said.

Officials released new information, video and photos of a person of interest in the investigation of a mass shooting at Brown University in which two people have been killed, and at least eight others sent to the hospital in critical condition. There is also a $50,000 reward to the public for any information that may lead to the suspect's capture.
With the investigation in its third day Monday, officers were still knocking on doors and poring through dumpsters and backyards near the Ivy League campus in search of additional video evidence or other clues.
After releasing a person of interest in the case because the evidence pointed elsewhere, they once again pleaded with the public for any tips that might help them catch the attacker.

The shooting happened on Dec. 13 in the Barus & Holley engineering building while final exams were underway. Brown canceled all remaining classes, exams, papers and projects for the semester and told students they could leave campus.

The shooter opened fire inside a classroom in the engineering building, firing more than 40 rounds from a 9 mm handgun, a law enforcement official told AP. Two handguns were recovered when the person of interest was taken into custody and authorities also found two loaded 30-round magazines, the official said.

While police searched the area for the shooter, students remained barricaded in rooms while others hid behind furniture and bookshelves. A video showed students in a library shaking as they heard loud bangs just before police entered the room to clear the building.
