A nationwide recall of cake mix has been elevated by the Food and Drug Administration to its most severe warning due to an undeclared allergen.

The cake and bread mix products are under a Class I recall designation, meaning a "situation in which there is a reasonable probability that the use of or exposure to a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death."

B.C. Williams Bakery Service, Inc, a Dallas-based company, initiated a voluntary recall of the goods in December 2025 because they may contain an undeclared milk allergen that may spark life-threatening reactions in individuals with milk allergies, per the FDA recall notice.
