Senate declares Oct. 14 a ‘National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk’ with unanimous resolution

The Senate on Thursday declared Charlie Kirk's birthday as the "National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk."

The resolution cited Kirk's advocacy for free speech and faith, as well as him being a champion for individual liberty.

The resolution said Kirk "consistently promoted the values of individual liberty, open debate, the importance of civic engagement, and the defense of constitutional principles."

The designation applies to Oct. 14, which would have been Kirk's 32nd birthday.

Kirk’s funeral will take place Sunday, Sept. 21, at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance are expected to speak at the service, along with Kirk's wife, Erika Kirk.

Secretaries Marco Rubio, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Pete Hegseth will also speak, as well as Tulsi Gabbard, Donald Trump Jr., Tucker Carlson, Stephen Miller and Sergio Gor.
