FD: 1 child dead, 1 injured following serious quad crash in Phoenix
PHOENIX (FOX10) - Phoenix Fire says one child is dead and one is injured following a serious quad crash in Phoenix.
Crews arrived on the scene of a motorcycle versus truck crash at 16th and Weir Avenues at 1:30 Saturday afternoon. Police say, two children, ages 9- and 10-years old riding on a quad became injured when the quad collided with a parked vehicle.
The children were then transported to local pediatric trauma facilities. Officials confirm the 10-year-old succumbed to his injuries. The 9-year-old is in serious but stable condition.
We spoke to a neighbor who watched everything happen and he told us that he ran over to the boys and called on everyone to call 911. He says he saw the kids riding up and down the street for some time before the horrific crash.
Another neighbor who's son saw everything happen is heartbroken. "It's heartbreaking," the neighbor said. "I wouldn't want any other kid to go through that."
The crash is under investigation.
