Festival of Trees returns to Valley for 10th year

PHOENIX (KSAZ) - It's the most wonderful time of the year and thanks to the Greater Phoenix Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, it's also the most colorful time of the year.

"It's a wonderful event where we have some of the most beautiful designer trees created," Fred Delgado said. "We actually expect about 15 trees to be designed and actually auctioned off. The goal is to make sure that we raise plenty of funds for some of our three charities that we have selected this year."

Returning for the 10th year, the Festival of Trees never disappoints. The annual event features gorgeous themed trees, festive refreshments and loads of holiday entertainment, but best of all the event supports three powerful organizations.

"The Phoenix Pride Scholarship Program basically focuses on giving scholarships to LGBT youth and then we have one n ten, also another great organization in town, and their focus is to also support and help the self confidence and self acceptance of the LGBT youth, and then we also have the PMMC, who are also focused on educating entertaining and inspiring our community as well," Delgado said.

Marc Gaston of the Phoenix Metropolitan Men's Chorus says the impact of the funds raised are invaluable.

"The people coming out to be part of this event not only are they getting to celebrate the holiday and do something wonderful, they're actually saving lives," he said.

Gaston adds that magic happens when the community come together for the greater good.

"We can quantify also through the chorus and through pride, we can actually quantify lives saved and families brought together and hearts changed and the world really to become a better place that has wonderful diversity for all of us," he said.
