Garbage truck collides with 2 cars in Phoenix

The area of 7th Street and Broadway remain closed Monday night, hours after a crash involving a garbage truck and a couple of vehicles.

According to a statement by Phoenix Police, police and fire officials responded to the area at around 3:15 p.m., for a serious injury collision. According to Sgt. Vince Lewis, A Tempe City garbage truck was heading east and hit a Volkswagen car that was waiting to turn left. The garbage truck, according to the statement, then continued east, and hit a Jeep SUV across the intersection that was waiting to head west.

According to Sgt. Lewis, four people inside the SUV, including children ages eight, seven, and 11 months, were taken to the hospital, bu all area expected to survive. The truck driver, meanwhile, reportedly showed no signs of impairment.
