LAKE PLEASANT, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Officials with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office say they have recovered the body of a man who went missing while swimming with his daughter at Lake Pleasant.
According to a statement released by Sgt. Bryant Vanegas, the body of 54-year-old Fernando Vargas was recovered on Tuesday morning.
There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the drowning.
Vargas was swimming with his 32-year-old daughter in a cove just south of Scorpion Bay. While swimming and attempting to cross the bay, Vargas went underwater, and his daughter tried to hold him up, but without success.
Officials say people nearby managed to get the man's daughter out safely.
