Tesla is recalling thousands of Cybertrucks because of a problem with the vehicles' off-road light bar which may increase the risk of a crash.

According to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recall notice on Oct. 28, the agency stated that "incorrect surface primer may have been used to attach the lightbar to the windshield, causing the light bar to loosen and detach."

How many Tesla Cybertrucks are being recalled?

Why you should care:

Tesla is recalling 6,197 2024 Cybertrucks, which are likely impacted by the recall. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration noted that the trucks were manufactured between Nov. 2023 and Nov. 2024.

Are repairs available for the recalled Cybertrucks?

What you can do:

If you own a recalled Cybertruck, you can take it to a Tesla dealership where technicians will inspect the light bar and install an extra mechanical attachment or replace the light bar using tape to stick the light bar to the windshield and an additional mechanical attachment if needed for free, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration noted.
