As Spain experienced another intensely dry summer, the drought conditions unearthed an ancient circle of stones dubbed the “Spanish Stonehenge.”

A Houston businessman known as “Mattress Mack” opened his massive furniture store to victims affected by severe flooding caused by Tropical Storm Imelda.

There were six active storm systems in the Atlantic and Eastern Pacific regions earlier this week, tying a record for the number of combined storms in both areas, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Rain from Tropical Depression Imelda deluged parts of Texas and Louisiana on Thursday, prompting hundreds of water rescues, a hospital evacuation and road closures in areas east of Houston that were hit hard by Hurricane Harvey two years ago.

Hurricane Dorian sideswiped the Carolinas with shrieking winds, tornadoes and sideways rain Thursday as it closed in for a possible direct hit on the dangerously exposed Outer Banks. At least four deaths in the Southeast were blamed on the storm.

Relief officials reported scenes of utter ruin Tuesday in parts of the Bahamas and rushed to deal with an unfolding humanitarian crisis in the wake of Hurricane Dorian, the most powerful storm on record ever to hit the islands. At least seven deaths were reported, with the full scope of the disaster still unknown.

Hurricane Dorian is now the most powerful hurricane to hit an Atlantic island, scientists from the Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring Service said Tuesday, and one of their prediction models indicated that waves caused by the storm could reach as high as 37 feet by September 5.
