Arizona weather forecast: Windy and cool Thursday in Phoenix

Another week of cold conditions across the state and country!

An arctic air mass has dropped across the United States, bringing extreme cold to much of the country.

Windy conditions on Thursday

What we know:

Jan. 23 will be a breezy day in the Valley, with wind gusts between 20-30 mph. Thursday's high in Phoenix will reach 65°F.

In northern Arizona, bitterly cold mornings continue, with slowly warming afternoon conditions. For our area ski parks, this week provides great snowmaking weather. However, Mother Nature may allow for natural snowmaking by this weekend.

Rain and snow this weekend?

What's next:

We're watching a storm system that has the potential to bring rain and snow showers across much of Arizona between Saturday night and Monday. For now, it is too early to fine tune the exact timing and impacts of the storm system. However, if the storm can remain organized as it passes through the state, cooler temperatures, gusty winds and wet weather are all possible. For now, Phoenix has a 20% chance for showers from Sunday into Monday.
