Here's a look at the latest police investigations, fires, crashes and other incidents that are happening around the Valley for Jan 8-14.

This will be updated as police and fire departments release information about their investigations throughout the week.

January 14

  • Central Avenue and Union Hills Drive, Phoenix - A man and woman were found dead in Phoenix on Sunday morning after police were called to a home for reports of a domestic violence incident.
  • Echo Canyon Trailhead, Phoenix - A hiker was rescued off Camelback Mountain after Phoenix firefighters say the hiker slipped and sustained a minor injury.
  • 3rd Avenue and McDowell Road, Phoenix - A truck crashed partially into a building. A person inside the business was not hurt. The driver was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK. "Impairment is not a factor, and the truck was diverted into the building after another vehicle turned in front of it," police said.
  • Arizona Avenue and Ryan Road, Chandler - A car crashed into a tree. The person inside is expected to be OK.
  • Sunshine Boulevard and Hanna Road, Eloy - Four people were killed in a hot air balloon crash Sunday morning in Eloy.

January 13

  • 26th and Oak streets, Phoenix - Smoke was seen coming from the second floor of a 2-story apartment. Firefighters found a fire inside the wall that was spreading up into the attic. No injuries were reported. The cause is under investigation.
  • 36th Street and Camelback Road, Phoenix - Phoenix Firefighters arrived to a home and saw heavy fire and smoke. A resident was able to get out safely.
  • Southern Avenue and Country Club Drive, Mesa - Mesa Police officers arrived to a McDonald's around 3 a.m. for reports of a shooting. That's where they found several people in the drive-thru area. A male was found on the ground appearing to have been shot. He died at the hospital not long after.
  • 19th Avenue and Camelback Road, Phoenix - At around 9 a.m., officers responded to reports of a stabbing. When they got to the scene, they were led to a man who was reportedly seen with a knife. Officers noticed he had cut himself and was taken to the hospital for treatment. Once he's released, police say he will be booked into jail on suspicion of aggravated assault for allegedly threatening others with the knife.
  • Longmore and 6th Avenue, Mesa - At around 5:30 a.m., a car crashed into a home after witnesses heard possible gunshots. Police say two people from inside the car took off from the scene. So far, no one has been arrested.
  • 51st and Cambridge avenues, Phoenix - At around 7:45 a.m., Phoenix Police arrived to the scene of a stabbing. Officers found a man who had several stab wounds. The victim said the suspect/s left before officers got there.
  • 35th Avenue and Virgina Avenue, Phoenix - At around 5 a.m., Phoenix Police officers arrived to the scene of a crash to find a car on its side. A woman and child were rescued from the car and are being treated at the hospital.
  • Lazona Drive and Main Street, Mesa - At around 1 a.m., a shooting broke out after Mesa Police say there was an altercation between two groups. A person, not involved in the fight, was struck by gunfire while in a car. The victim has life-threatening injuries.
  • 11th Avenue and Dobbins Road, Phoenix - A mobile home caught fire around 12:45 a.m. Firefighters encountered heavy smoke and large flames. The mobile home was vacant, so no one will be displaced.

January 12

  • 14th Street and McDowell, Phoenix - An officer-involved shooting in the area left a man with non-life-threatening injuries. An officer was also taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
  • Echo Canyon Trail, Phoenix - A female hiker was rescued after she lost her footing, and sustained a leg injury.
  • 5th Avenue and Indian School, Scottsdale - Fire crews with Scottsdale, Tempe and Phoenix responded to a fire at a vacant motel.
  • 73rd Avenue and Eugie, Peoria - A mental health call for service in the area ended with a police shooting and a subsequent barricade situation. The suspect was later taken into custody. He was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
  • 47th Avenue and Bethany Home Road, Glendale - A car hit two female pedestrians in the area, according to police. "Both pedestrians were conscious and alert. Both were transported to a local hospital with possible serious injuries. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene. No impairment is suspected at this time."

January 11

  • 41st Avenue and Greenway, Phoenix - A collision sent a male and a female driver to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
  • 12th Street and South Mountain Avenue, Phoenix - Police say a man was stuck underneath a large, fallen palm tree in the area. "The fire department responded and cut the tree to free the man. They provided medical aid, however, the man died on scene from his injuries. Preliminary information suggests the man was walking in the park with another person when the tree fell on top of him," officials wrote in a statement.
  • 43rd Avenue and Dunlap, Phoenix - Police say a man was found on the ground with obvious signs of trauma in the area, following a crash. The person was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
  • 24th and Jefferson streets, Phoenix - Police say a body was found along the train tracks.
  • 51st and Southern avenues, Phoenix - Firefighters were called to the scene just before midnight. There, they found the exterior of a strip mall on fire.
  • 9th Street and Broadway Road, Phoenix - Police say when the homeowner arrived at the scene and saw the suspect breaking into his residence, a fight ensued.
  • 32nd and Van Buren streets, Phoenix - A suspect is dead following an officer-involved shooting in the area.

January 10

  • 44th Street and Osborn Road, Phoenix - A man and woman were badly injured after a car crashed into them on Wednesday night in Phoenix, the fire department said.
  • US 60 and Dobson Road, Mesa - Traffic began backing up around 5:30 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of the highway as officers were trailing a suspect involved in a reported carjacking and robbery.
  • Loop 202 and 56th Street, Chandler - "Fire and hazmat crews from Chandler, Phoenix, Mesa, and Tempe are currently on the scene of a sulfuric acid leak at a commercial business. The leak is currently emanating from a trailer with an unknown amount. We currently do not know what caused the spill. Crews are actively researching and mitigating the situation. No injuries have been reported, and there is no harm to neighboring businesses or communities," Chandler Fire Department said.
  • 67th Avenue and Maryland, Glendale - Police say two people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries following a two-car crash.

January 9

  • Near 7th Street and Mohave, Phoenix - A person was found dead with a gunshot wound in the area, according to police. Officers responded to the scene at around 9:18 p.m.
  • 43rd Avenue and Camelback Road, Phoenix - A man was arrested as police say he was wanted for an unspecified violent crime.
  • Loop 101 and 51st Avenue, Phoenix - A crash was blocking the left lane. It's since been cleared.
  • 69th Avenue and Camelback Road, Glendale - Police say a collision involving a motorcycle happened in the area. The motorcycle rider was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries while the other driver involved fled the scene.
  • Near I-17 and Camelback Road, Phoenix - DPS officials say an eight-vehicle crash involving injuries happened in the area. The extent of the injuries are unknown, and the crash partially blocked the freeway until the cars involved were moved onto the freeway's right shoulder.

January 8

  • 43rd Avenue and Thomas, Phoenix - A crash in the area left two people seriously injured. Police responded to the scene at around 10:40 p.m.
  • 58th Avenue and Camelback Road, Glendale - Phoenix Police tactical units took a man into custody in the area, following an incident that began as an attempt to stop a stolen truck in the area of 27th Avenue and Indian School Road. No pursuit occurred during this incident.
  • Loop 101 near Hayden, Scottsdale - DPS officials said a minor rollover crash happened in the area. No injuries were reported.
