Build-A-Bear plush bears recalled (CPSC)

Build-A-Bear Workshop, a popular store where children can build their own teddy bears, is recalling 36,000 weighted plush bears over risk of choking in children.

The recall involves the Heartwarming Hugs models.

What they're saying:

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the Heartwarming Hugs plush bears (model number 034464) has a side pouch with a heart filled with 2.5 pounds of ceramic beads that can be heated or cooled for comfort. The pouch is secured with a zipper, but regulators found the zipper slider on the side pouch can detach, "posing a risk of serious injury or death from choking hazard to children."

So far, there’s been one report in the United Kingdom of the zipper slider detaching. There have been no reports of injury. They were sold at Build-A-Bear Workshop stores and on Build-A-Bear’s website from January 2026 through March 2026 for about $48.
