Halloween decoration thieves in Mesa captured on surveillance footage

A neighborhood in Mesa known for its over-the-top Halloween decorations is targeted by thieves and the theft was caught on camera.

Homes in the Santa Rita Ranch neighborhood have gone viral on TikTok because they go all out for the holiday.

People who live there say about 500 people show up to check out the decorations every night.

But, just before 3 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, thieves pulled up in front of a house near Signal Butte and Elliot roads, jumped over a small fence and stole many of the decorations in the front yard.

Three people spend about a minute grabbing items from the Halloweentown display.

Cameras around the home of Brittany Rowley captured them in the act. She's hoping they are caught before doing this to someone else's holiday display.

"It just made me feel really sad that these teenagers felt the need to trespass onto someone else's property and not only steal their belongings but also take away that joy and happiness that we provide to those around us by putting up that display," she said.

Despite what happened, she says they aren't going to let this stop them from decorating for Halloween. They are pushing forward.

The family has filed a police report, and if anyone knows who the people in the surveillance video are, they’re asked to call Mesa Police at 480-644-2211.
