Pope Francis Celebrates Closing Mass on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway

At 4:00 p.m. Sunday, Pope Francis celebrated the Closing Mass for the 2015 World Meeting of Families on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

The Holy Father addressed a crowd who gathered near the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum, and in front of 40-odd jumbotrons throughout Center City.

10,000 free tickets to the Sunday mass were made available back on September 8 th , and were quickly claimed within 30 seconds.

In 1979, Pope John Paul II celebrated mass in the same location. That mass had an estimated attendance of 400,000.
