Pregnant woman ejected from vehicle during crash
PHOENIX - Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a serious injury crash that happened near 71st Avenue and Broadway on Monday morning.
Officials say a woman who is 5-months pregnant was ejected from a vehicle involved in the collision.
According to MCSO, three vehicles were involved in the crash. They say the pregnant woman was not wearing a seat belt.
Officials say the driver of a white truck was trying to make a left turn onto Broadway from 71st Avenue. That driver did not see the woman's Chevrolet Suburban SUV that was traveling westbound. The truck clipped the SUV, causing it to spin out, which is when she was ejected. The SUV's rear axle came off and hit another vehicle.
The woman was rushed to an area hospital, where she and her unborn child are listed in stable condition. The other people involved in the crash were not seriously hurt.
MCSO says the woman's speed may have been a factor in this case. They do not believe any criminal charges will be filed.
The woman's name has not been released.
