The high temperature in Phoenix on Wednesday was 66 degrees.

A Freeze Warning is in effect for the Valley through 9 a.m. on Jan. 22, as overnight temperatures drop into the 30s. As a reminder, pets should be indoors and sensitive plants may need cover.

Cooler weather has local businesses and residents bracing for Freeze Warning

Residents and businesses are adjusting to cool temperatures, or not adjusting at all, as the Valley braces for the coldest night of the year.

The temperature begins to rebound on Thursday and by Friday, a high of 70°F is forecast for the Valley.

In northern Arizona, bitterly cold mornings continue for the next couple of days with slowly warming afternoon conditions. For our area ski parks, this week provides great snowmaking weather. However, Mother Nature may allow for natural snowmaking by this weekend.

Rain and snow this weekend?

What's next:

We're watching a storm system that has the potential to bring rain and snow showers across much of Arizona between Saturday night and Monday. For now, it is too early to fine tune the exact timing and impacts of the storm system. However, if the storm can remain organized as it passes through the state, cooler temperatures, gusty winds and wet weather are all possible. For now, Phoenix has a 20% chance for showers from Sunday into Monday.
