Driver of stolen car killed in Glendale crash, police say
GLENDALE, Ariz. - The driver of a stolen car was killed in a crash on Wednesday night, police said.
The crash happened at around 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 18 near 67th and Alice Avenues.
Glendale Police said a man in his 20s was driving a black Honda Civic that was reported stolen out of Phoenix. The man was driving with the headlights off when he crashed into an SUV.
The man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was not identified. A woman in her 20s who was a passenger in the Civic suffered life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the SUV, a 49-year-old woman, and her two grandchildren, ages 12 and 6, suffered minor injuries.
Police said handguns and stolen property were found inside the Civic.
"Due to the ongoing investigation, there have been no citations issued or arrests made," police said. "It is unknown at this time if impairment played a factor into the crash."
67th Avenue was closed between Butler Drive and Olive Avenue for the investigation.
