10-year-old boy dead, 5 others injured in Avondale crash

A 10-year-old boy was killed in a crash that left five others injured - including three children - near 107th Avenue and Roosevelt, according to Avondale Police.

Police say a crash on Wednesday at an Avondale intersection left a young boy dead and five other people injured.

The two-car crash happened just before 10 a.m. on Dec. 28 at 107th Avenue and Roosevelt Parkway. It involved a van and a Mustang.

According to police, four children and two adults were hospitalized following the crash. A 10-year-old boy died at the hospital. 

The other three children - a 9-year-old boy, a 5-year-old girl, and a 1-year-old boy - remain in the hospital in critical condition.

The cause of the crash is unknown at this time. Impairment is not believed to be a factor in the crash, police said.

Traffic restrictions were in place due to the investigation.
