Phoenix student recognized as 'World Science Scholar'

PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Tenth grader Annika Bridge is pretty passionate about her love for science.

The BASIS Ahwatukee student is one of 45 students internationally to be recognized as a "World Science Scholar."

The new online math and science program for high school students just launched in the fall and for students just like Annika, the online initiative is designed to prepare the next generation to use science to change the world.

"We watch videos, we can have discussions, so we get to take courses on like, string theory and physics or molecular biology, which is really cool," Annika said. "It's not always stuff you go over in a normal school class. After that, you can discuss it with the professor themselves or your other students, and it's cool, it's kind of more of a learning software program."

Annika says the best part about the scholar program is getting to feed her passion with other peers who love science just as much as she does.

"It's really just a unique outlet that I can continue to learn," she said.
