Thousands of torch lighters sold on Amazon recalled for burn, fire hazard

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a recall for thousands of torch lighters sold on Amazon due to posing a fire and burn risk due to not having required child-resistant mechanisms.
What we know:
The CPSC says the recall involves the gray/brown, gold/black and camouflage print Jobon butane torch lighters manufactured in China by Wenzhou Zhongbang Smoking Set Manufacturing Co., Ltd., doing business as Jobon Official Store, of China.
The lighters were sold on Amazon.com and Alibaba.com from April 2021 through September 2025 for between $5 and $20.

CPSC says the lighters violate the mandatory safety standard for multipurpose lighters because they do not have the required child-resistant mechanisms, posing a risk of serious injury or death from fire and burn hazards. In addition, CPSC says the lighters failed to meet the pre-market lighter submission requirement needed to demonstrate that the lighters feature child-resistant mechanisms to ensure their safety and compliance with U.S. regulations.
What you can do:
Consumers should stop using the recalled lighters immediately and can request a refund by writing "RECALLED" in permanent marker on the lighter, submerge it in water in a bowl and send a photo of the marked and submerged lighter to wzzhongbang@yeah.net
