North Carolina teacher killed by home intruder while on phone with 911, police say
RALEIGH, N.C. - A North Carolina teacher was killed by a home intruder as she was on the phone with a 911 dispatcher.

Raleigh Police said on January 3, officers were dispatched to 819 Clay Street.
The victim, Zoe Welsh, had called 911 to report a man had broken into her home. While she was on the phone, police said the man started to assault her.
When officers arrived, they found Welsh with life-threatening injuries. She later died from her injuries at a hospital.
Officers conducted the search and later found the suspect, identified as Ryan Camacho, 36. He is charged with murder and felony burglary.
According to FOX Carolina, Welsh was a teacher at Ravenscroft School.

"I am deeply heartbroken for this mother, friend, and mentor to many in our community, and for the unimaginable trauma her family must endure. We extend our deepest sympathy to Ms. Welsh's family during this incredibly difficult time," Raleigh Police Chief Rico Boyce said in an online statement.
"Her loss is deeply felt by all of us who had the privilege of working with her and learning in her classroom," the school said in a statement to local news outlets.
