Ford has recalled 4,653 vehicles over an issue that can cause a loss of vehicle control, which can elevate the risk of a crash, resulting in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issuing a "do not drive warning" for these vehicles.

NHTSA officials stated in a recall notice that the "front lower control arm ball joints" were possibly installed incorrectly or repaired incorrectly at a vehicle assembly plant, resulting in the control arm to disconnect from the front wheel knuckle.

What Ford vehicles are being recalled?

Why you should care:

Ford’s recall covers certain 2021-2026 Bronco Sport and 2022-2026 Maverick vehicles.

Are repairs available for the recalled Ford vehicles?

What you can do:

Owners of these vehicles are urged not to drive them until the remedy is completed. NHTSA officials noted that dealers will inspect and repair the front lower control arm ball joints as necessary for free.

Owner’s notification letters are expected to be mailed by June 5. Consumers with questions about the recall can call Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. The automaker’s recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on May 29.
