Storm brings rain, wind to people in parts in Arizona

PHOENIX (FOX 10) -- Parts of the Valley, as well as parts of Central Arizona, saw inclement weather Tuesday afternoon as a result of a storm.

According to National Weather Service's Phoenix office, a thunderstorm is moving into the far North Valley, as of 12:40 p.m. Tuesday, and parts of Pinal County were placed under a Significant Weather Advisory until 2:00 p.m., with wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph, pea size hail, and strong thunderstorms expected.

In years past, Arizona has seen some severe weather events on April 23. According to the National Weather Service, on April 23, 1997, a short-lived tornado shifted two mobile homes on their foundation and pushed a third mobile home off its foundation, at an area about eight miles north of Valle, a town in Coconino County located northwest of Flagstaff.

On April 23, 2005, NWS officials said winds associated with thunderstorms damaged roofs and carports, as well as knocking out power in parts of the Yuma Foothills area.
