On the 9th day of trial for the so-called 'Doomsday Mom,' Lori Vallow's ex-best friend, Melanie Gibb, gave disturbing testimony as to Vallow's alleged religious beliefs. In addition to Gibb, a Chandler Police detective also took the stand in the trial.

In her testimony during the trial of Lori Vallow, Melanie Gibb told the court about a claim made by her now-former best friend in 2019: That her children were zombies. In addition, a religious blessing made for Lori Vallow's brother by her current husband, Chad Daybell, was also played in court on April 13, the ninth day of trial for the so-called 'Doomsday Mom.' Melanie Gibb took the stand Thursday an described how Lori Vallow's religious beliefs eventually led her to her future husband, Chad Daybell. Gibb said Lori and Chad spoke often, even while the two were still married to other people. Lori's previous husband, Charles, was killed by her brother.

It soon grew to encompass five states, four suspected murders and claims of unusual, doomsday-focused religious beliefs involving "dark spirits" and "zombies." On April 10, an Idaho jury will begin the difficult task of deciding the veracity of those claims and others in the triple murder trial of Lori Vallow Daybell.

Lori sat in court with her arms crossed, looking away from the projector screen. Another warning for viewers, what we had to see was extremely graphic. Photos were shown of JJ Vallow wrapped in duct tape across his arms and his head with a plastic bag that had to be cut off. Rexburg Police Detective Ray Hermosillo described witnessing the body at the Ada County Coroner?s Office in June 2020 shortly after investigators discovered the remains of JJ and his big sister Tylee.

The prosecution came out strong with opening statements, telling the jury that Lori Vallow wanted to start a new life, without her kids and was in a love affair, motivated by money, power and sex. "She?s a little bit nervous but that?s to be expected. I don?t think she?s ever testified in court, but I think she?s doing a good job, she?s sticking with the facts, she?s not changing anything. She?s telling the truth," Larry Woodcock, JJ Vallow's grandfather, said. He's confident in his wife Kay?s testimony.

In opening statements, Fremont County Prosecuting Attorney Lindsey Blake provided a roadmap to the 18 jurors. Blake said that Lori was motivated by “money, power and sex” and would remove any obstacle in her way to get what she wanted, and she wanted was Chad Daybell.
