Lake Havasu police enforce ordinance around London Bridge

LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. (AP) - Lake Havasu City police are reminding residents that any use of bicycles, skateboards or scooters is strictly prohibited under the city's landmark London Bridge.

Authorities said Friday they have been getting complaints of damage to benches, railings and a concrete stage caused by bicycles, in-line skates and other skating equipment.

Police say a local ordinance bans activities involving biking and skating in the area between the London Bridge Resort and the English Village property.

They say officers will be monitoring the area and any damage could lead to an arrest and fines.

Anyone with information on any incidents is asked to contact police.

Lake Havasu City founder Robert McCulloch bought the bridge from the city of London in 1968 for approximately $2 million.
