Lake lost the governor's race to Democrat Katie Hobbs last year. The Senate seat is currently held by Independent Kyrsten Sinema, who has not formally launched a re-election campaign. The only other major Republican in the race so far is Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb. Democratic Congressman Ruben Gallego is also running for the Senate seat.
