Phoenix Vice Mayor Yassamin Ansari running for Congress
Phoenix Vice Mayor Yassamin Ansari announced her candidacy for Arizona's 3rd Congressional District, which is currently held by Congressman Ruben Gallego, who plans to run for Kyrsten Sinema's Senate seat. Ansari has served as vice mayor since January and has been a city council member for the past two years. She was the youngest woman ever elected to the Phoenix City Council, and the first Iranian American elected to public office in Arizona.
