33-year-old accused of robbing seven banks in Arizona arrested in Mississippi

A 33-year-old has been arrested, accused of robbing seven banks in Arizona from late September to early November of 2017.

According to a statement released by FBI officials in Phoenix, Miranda Maloney, believed by the FBI to be a bank robbery suspect known as the "Grimace Bandit", was arrested on December 23, 2017 in Gulfport, Mississippi by police there, along with FBI agents.

According to the statement, the "Grimace Bandit" earned the nickname, because the suspect wore a purple shirt and a purple scarf during some of the robberies. The suspect is accused of robbing the following banks:

No one, according to the FBI, was physically injured during the robberies, and Malony has been charged in a criminal complaint that has been filed in Federal court.
