East valley officers perform sobriety checkpoint

MESA, Ariz. (KSAZ) - The East Valley DUI Task Force held a sobriety checkpoint in Mesa near the Salt River.

Patrol officers for the past four days have been searching for impaired drivers.

Officers setup a checkpoint on one of the exits from Saguaro Lake near Power Road and Redmont.

Officers spoke with each driver and gave them a portable breath test. If the officers suspected impairment they gave additional tests and in some cases found those above the legal limit.

The legal BAC limit for Arizona drivers is 0.08.

The task force is comprised of several law enforcement agencies from across the valley and the state.
