Former teacher pleads not guilty to sexual conduct charges

PHOENIX (AP) - A former football coach and teacher at a charter high school in Mesa has pleaded not guilty to charges accusing him of sexual conduct with a 17-year-old girl who was one of his students.

Sheron Butler entered his plea in Maricopa County Superior Court on Tuesday. He'd previously maintained his innocence during his initial court appearance.

Butler was fired from Sequoia Charter School following his arrest.

He's charged with three counts of sexual conduct with a minor.
