Man drowns while tubing in Salt River
SALT RIVER, Ariz. (KSAZ) - A man has drowned while tubing in the Salt River near Blue Point Bridge.
Police say a male in his thirties was tubing with friends when he broke away from the group to retrieve a tube that had floated away. He became exhausted and went underwater for an unknown period of time before his friends found him, officials say.
The man was given CPR until Maricopa County officials came. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Officials are investigating the incident as a drowning, and they do not know how well he was able to swim or if he had any medical conditions that might have been a factor.
