'Miracle' recovering after being found underneath car, infested with maggots

PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Officials say a 7-year-old Shih Tzu is recovering after the stray pup was found underneath a car and infested with maggots.

The Maricopa County Animal Care and Control Center says the dog, named "Miracle," is recovering after she was found by a resident huddled underneath car and infested with maggots.

Officials say the malnourished pup was near death when she was found and her face was being "eaten off" from the maggot infestation.

"Miracle" is now eating on her own and is recovering. Officials say while she was being shaved, one of her eyes ruptured and as a result, she will be completely blind.
