Northern Virginia Community College professor charged with rape, sexual battery of 2 students

MANASSAS, Va. - A college professor is accused of raping two students at Northern Virginia Community College's Manassas campus.

Adjunct math professor Youssef Taleb has been charged with rape, sexual battery and sexual penetration with an object.

Police said the attacks happened in March, April and as recently as two weeks ago in May.

The first victim was reportedly raped in a conference room and classroom. Those incidents happened at the end of March and the beginning of this month.

The second victim was reportedly assaulted earlier this semester. The school's administration said the incidents were first reported to campus police on May 5 by a third party.

Northern Virginia Community College said the 27-year-old instructor was hired last August and taught only at the Manassas campus. He was fired on Thursday, one week after the accusations were reported to police.

The college said it has alerted students and staff about the incident, but not everyone received the message and now there are new concerns about safety. One student we interviewed said the alert system at this campus is down.

"I've been having issues with a lot of Manassas campus stuff," said student Devon Vickory. "I haven't gotten any of their emails recently and I did not get an alert about that."

We asked the school about the alert system and they said they are looking into it.

Campus police said the day they were first notified about the incidents, an investigation was opened.
