Registered sex offender on the run captured by sheriff's deputies

PINAL COUNTY, Ariz. (KSAZ) - A registered sex offender that was on the run from sheriff's deputies for months has been caught.

The Pinal County Sheriff's Office says Willard Castaneda was found after cutting off his ankle-monitoring bracelet eight months ago.

After he was taken into custody, he told deputies that he ran because he couldn't handle probation.

Castaneda was convicted five years ago for sexual conduct with a 14-year-old girl.

He has been booked into Pinal County Jail.
