Ride-sharing to resume at Sky Harbor Airport

Travelers at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport will soon be able to have a Uber or Lyft pick them up. The plan has been in the works for a year, and this week the city council passed the measure.

Uber and Lyft have been negotiating with the airport for over a year now, and finally passengers can now consider the popular ride sharing services among their transportation options.

Currently if you select Phoenix Sky Harbor as your pickup location for either service it will not work. But on June 18 that all changes.

Competitors like limo and taxi companies argued that the company background checks aren't thorough enough, but in a 6-3 vote the council approved the plan.

The ride sharing services comes as the airport introduced a new fee system, every vehicle will pay anywhere from $3.25 to $9.00 depending on the size of the vehicle for each airport pickup.
