The Cochise County deputy had pulled over a Ford truck on Highway 80 and Kings Highway west of Douglas on March 23.

A man who lives in a small southeastern Arizona town is accused of assaulting police officers during the deadly 2021 Capitol Riot, according to officials with the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Mesa resident Taylor Seth Johnson, 25, and Detroit resident Kanardje Watts, 21, face numerous charges including child abuse and aggravated assault on a police officer. Two children were in the car during the chase.

The migrant, identified as 32-year-old Carmelo Cruz-Marcos from Puebla, Mexico, died following a shooting involving an as yet unidentified Border Patrol in a remote part of southeastern Arizona. The shooting happened on Feb. 19.

A juvenile was ejected and two others needed extrication after a high-speed chase in Arizona ended in a rollover crash on Feb. 27.

Border Patrol agents apprehended three migrants in the U.S. illegally and spotted a fourth trying to get away. One agent followed the person downhill into the canyon “and while taking him into custody discharged his firearm fatally wounding the migrant.”

The sheriff's office provided an update days later saying a man who reportedly entered the U.S. illegally was killed after being shot several times by a border patrol agent on Feb. 19.

The shooter has been identified as 44-year-old Sierra Vista resident Stevan Djordjevic, an off-duty U.S. Border Patrol agent, police said.

The case had gone cold for 15 years until DNA evidence in 2019 identified Willcox resident Joshua William Scheu as the perpetrator.

Three alternatives to be studied would change flight restrictions in areas northwest of Phoenix, west and southwest of Tucson and in parts of southeastern and east-central Arizona extending in western New Mexico.

Personnel includes physicians, advanced health care professionals, nurses, a respiratory therapist and a paramedic who will serve for up to 14 days per deployment.

Tucson TV station KOLD said the assault occurred on Jan. 26 near Naco, which is along Arizona’s border with Mexico.

The boy was arrested in May 2021 after authorities found a pipe bomb and preparation for a second in a back room of the home he shares with his mother and older brother.

Authorities had been called to do a welfare check at a home in the small town of Elfrida on Dec. 12 after the caller said the boy had been there for an “undetermined length of time.”

Patients without COVID-19 are facing waits of 48 to 96 hours to be transferred to large hospitals in Tucson.

Sierra Vista police said 29-year-old Tyler Nahoopii was taken back into custody Saturday.
