Death Valley National Park could set a world record this week for the hottest temperature ever recorded. The aptly-named Furnace Creek could hit 131?F. Signs are posted throughout the park warning visitors not to go hiking after 10 a.m.

Eighteen people have died related to the heat, the Maricopa County Health Department confirmed. Six of the deaths were unhoused individuals. An additional 69 deaths are under investigation.
