This breaks the previous record of 18 consecutive days with temperatures at or above 110F, which was set in 1974. Senior centers double as cooling centers

Maricopa County confirms 18 heat-related deaths

Eighteen people have died related to the heat, the Maricopa County Health Department confirmed. Six of the deaths were unhoused individuals. An additional 69 deaths are under investigation.
