Big Train Operators Club to host free model train event this week

Model train enthusiasts -- listen up. A free, week-long event is about to kick off at the Mesa Public Library. Fox 10's Ty Brennan gives us a sneak peek.

This is a labor of love.

"From start to finish it takes about 3 hours to set up."

Daryll Smith of Big Train Operators Club and his fellow train enthusiasts have been working hard to set up nearly 300 feet of track in a room at the Mesa Public Library.

"This will be our fifth year…"

The goal is to share their enthusiasm of model trains with others.

"Most of us at some point in a time had an RR set underneath the Christmas tree or given to us as a present and those memories stick in your head."

The display comes complete with multiple train scenes, which you can see at the library starting Monday through next Saturday.
