Crews work to restore power to hundreds on Sunday morning

Hundreds of people remain without power on Sunday morning after storms ripped through the valley.

At least fifteen power poles are down in the area of east Mesa and Gilbert, according to SRP. More than 600 customers are without power in the area of Val Vista to Gilbert, and from Broadway to University. Main Street has been shut down between Gilbert and Lindsay while crews work to repair the downed poles and try to restore power. SRP says it could be Sunday afternoon before power is restored.

In west Phoenix, two hundred people remain without power as well. At the height of the storm, more than 14,000 people were reported to have no electricity. By late Sunday morning, that number was whittled down to about 200 people.
