Cuban migrants quickly arrested after arriving on shore of south Florida beach

Authorities arrested 10 Cuban migrants Saturday in Florida just moments after they arrived on shore.

As the migrants got out of their simple 10-foot wooden row boat, some folks on the beach cheered them on and welcomed them with applause. According to witnesses several migrants were so happy to reach land that they kissed the sand at Dania Beach.

However their happiness was short lived. Police officers and the Coast Guard were ready to arrest them as soon as they got out of the boat.

Authorities say the men on board were armed with knives and other weapons and every time police approached them they threatened to harm themselves.

Nine men and one woman were arrested.
