Millions up for grabs in Mega Millions, Powerball drawings

PHOENIX (KSAZ) - With the Mega Millions jackpot sitting at $306 million and the Powerball at $384 million, there's two chances to win it big with both drawings just a day a part.

So the question is, how do you make some money?

Our new friend, Jim, gave us some advice.

"I make money on the pick threes because what I do is I buy individual tickets," he said. "I play $10 on a number, but I buy individual tickets so each ticket is worth $500. If I put it on one ticket, I gotta go there and give them taxes, this way it's just as legal and it's all mine."

Brilliant, Jim! It's a strategy that has actually worked for him before!

"In Mass, I hit daily numbers to the tune of $150,000 over a three-or-four-year period," he said.

Others like Nick rely on more luck.

"Sir, tell us, what was your strategy here?" I asked.

"To buy a lottery ticket and win a lot of money," Nick replied.

But if he wins, he at least has one thing in common with Jim.

"I would quit work and give a lot of money to my family so they would leave me alone and I would disappear for a long time," Nick said.

So there's a 1-in-300,000,000 chance we'll never see Jim or Nick again, and the chances of them winning $690 million in both the Powerball and Mega Millions is 1-in-four hundred quadrillion!
