Police provide update in serial street shooter case

PHOENIX (KSAZ) - A serial street shooter has been terrorizing a Phoenix neighborhood for months and on Tuesday night, police are held a community meeting to provide an update in the case.

The meeting, held by the Phoenix Police Department, took place at the Mountain View Precinct near 20th Street and Maryland.

The serial street shooter is believed to be responsible for at least nine attacks since March. Seven people have been killed, including a 12-year-old girl, and two others have been injured.

In each incident, the shootings have happened after dark and all but one have been in the Maryvale section of Phoenix. Police say the shooter drives up to his targets and either shoots from an open window or gets out of his vehicle and immediately drives away after shooting.

Police have found shell casings at some of the scenes but have not said what ballistics have revealed about the weapons used in the shootings.

The serial street shooter is described as a young, Hispanic man with black hair. He's believe to have used several different vehicles in the attacks, including a late-90s model black BMW 5 Series. One of the other suspect's vehicle is believed to be a white Cadillac or Lincoln.
