Students send holiday cards, hope to overseas troops

During the holiday season, it's important to remember the brave men and women in the U.S. Military, even if they can't be home for the holidays.

That's exactly why 800 students from Cheatham Elementary School in Laveen took it upon themselves to write cheerful messages of gratitude to those serving overseas.

For students at the school, these cards aren't just holiday greetings. They're hope for overseas heroes. The idea came after a student council meeting and once word spread, the project took off.

This time, however, it hits a little closer to home, as it is the husband of a Cheatham teacher who will be deployed any day now that will distribute the cards to his unit.
