Tempe Town puddle becomes a lake again

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -- Tempe Town Lake is being refilled in the wake of construction of a new dam. Water began flowing into the lake Tuesday morning and it'll take about two weeks to fully refill the lake.

The lake was emptied in March to complete construction of a new hydraulically operated steel-gate dam that replaces an inflatable rubber system.

City officials say the lake should reopen for water sports at the end of the month.
