PHOENIX (KSAZ) - A woman who reported being robbed while working at a valley Little Caesar's restaurant has admitted to police that her story is a hoax.
Police say Crystal McElroy told them that a transient attacked her in north Phoenix while she was carrying the store's bank bag. However, police said she kept changing her story.
Ultimately, police say McElroy admitted to making up the story because she had stolen thousands of dollars from the restaurant over several days.
She was arrested and charged with theft and false reporting.
