Firefighters battle fire at Mesa Texas Roadhouse

Firefighters responded to a second-alarm fire early Thursday morning at a Mesa Texas Roadhouse located near the U.S. 60 freeway and Stapley Drive. When crews arrived at the scene, smoke and fire was coming from the roof. They were able to extinguish the fire, which was in an attic space. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The restaurant will be open for business on August 19.

A child was taken to the hospital in critical condition on Sunday, following a near drowning. It was the latest in a string of three unrelated near-drowning incidents to have taken place on Aug. 8.

“At one point all adults were inside the house and came out to find the 3yo missing,” fire officials said. “Her flotation device was on the deck by the pool. Eventually, the 3yo was located at the bottom of the pool and brought to the surface. Resuscitation efforts began by the family, were taken over by officers, and then MFD before transport to the hospital."

High school students help veteran get Purple Heart medal he was supposed to receive
