Prosecutors in Maricopa County have reportedly offered a plea deal to Charles Ryan, the former head of the Arizona Department of Corrections, in relation to charges stemming from a standoff in January 2022 that led to his arrest. Tempe considering raising tobacco age to 21

The Tempe City Council is proposing to raise the minimum age of tobacco purchase to 21 years old. A committee has been working on an ordinance aiming to decrease youth tobacco and e-cigarette use. The proposal would also establish a tobacco sales license for businesses that sell tobacco. Arizona is one of 10 states that does not have a statewide tobacco licensing registry. The city council members will bring it to a vote at a future meeting.
