Border Patrol agents arrest convicted sex offender who crossed border illegally

CALEXICO, Calif. (FOX 10) - Officials say Border Patrol agents arrested a convicted sex offender who crossed the U.S.-Mexico border illegally.

According to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, agents arrested Jose C. Gomez, a 63-year-old convicted sex offender, after he illegally crossed the border in California.

Officials say Gomez was convicted of child molestation in Georgia in 2007 was was sentenced to five years in prison.

After serving his sentence, he was deported in 2011.

Gomez also served time in a Virginia prison for abduction and kidnapping charges.
