Boy with prosthetics meets dog with prosthetics

There's nothing quite like the bond between a boy and his dog. Even though Chi Chi the therapy dog doesn't belong to 10-year-old Owen, she knows exactly how he feels. They both suffered incredible trauma at the age of 2, and their stories of survival are remarkable.

Chi Chi, the 3-year-old Golden Retriever, is a quadruple amputee who walks with custom prosthetics. As reported by the Washington Post, she was saved after being abandoned outside of a South Korean dog meat operation.

Owen suffered burns on 98 percent of his body.

"We have both had many surgeries. We have had our legs amputated," Owen told FOX 10.

When Owen saw a video of Chi Chi online, he instantly fell in love with his kindred spirit. With the help of his teacher, Chi Chi's owners, and some friends, Owen was able to fly from Indiana to Arizona to meet her.

"Owen and Chi Chi have a lot in common. They've both been through terrible things. They've had bad things happen to them. But now they're happy and resilient and love life," said Richard Howell, Chi Chi's owner.
